Wireless Internet Access at Carpenter-Carse Library

If you have a newer laptop or wireless card, it may automatically find our wireless network. If you need to change your computer's settings in order to use Wi-Fi, be sure your computer is set up to use these settings:

Once your computer is configured correctly, open a web browser and you are ready to surf.

Use of our Wi-Fi implies that you have read, understand, and will comply with the Access Agreement and Guidelines below.

Public Wi-Fi Internet Access Agreement

The library provides free wireless Internet access via an open, unsecured, wireless network. It is strongly recommended that you do not use our network to transmit personal, financial, or legal data. It is not possible for the library to protect you against malicious theft or interception of such data transmitted over the wireless network

The library will not assume responsibility for the safety of equipment or for laptop/PDA configurations, security, or data files resulting from connection to the library's wireless service. Virus and security protection is the responsibility of the wireless user.

Patrons are responsible for setting up their own equipment to access the Carpenter-Carse Library wireless network. The library provides limited technical assistance to guide users to connect to our network. The library is not responsible for any changes you make to your computer’s settings and cannot guarantee your hardware will work with our wireless connection. Library staff do not provide technical assistance with wireless access, and are not permitted to make changes to the configuration of a privately owned wireless device.

The library reserves the right to limit bandwidth on a per connection basis on the wireless network. This will ensure network reliability and fair sharing of network resources for all wireless users.

The library may enable content filtering on its wireless network to prevent end-users from viewing inappropriate content that might offend other library patrons. It also prevents wireless users from using a disproportionate amount of bandwidth for downloading music, movies, and program files by blocking certain types of downloads.
