Did you know that Carpenter-Carse has a telescope that our library cardholders can borrow for a week at a time? Join us on Friday, April 8 at 7:30 pm* when Paul Walker from the Vermont Astronomical Society (VAS) -- the organization that makes this loaner telescope program possible! -- gives a tutorial on how the telescope works and what sorts of celestial bodies you can be scoping out in the night sky with it. We'll begin with a presentation in our community room and then head outside to give attendees a chance for some supervised hands-on experience with the loaner telescope.
Take advantage of this chance to get questions answered by VAS and learn the ins-and-outs of our loaner telescope -- an awesome opportunity available for patrons -- so that you can feel confident borrowing it on your own time to gaze at the night sky above.
Please preregister for this event by emailing meg@carpentercarse.org.
*Though a rainy weekend is predicted, we plan to forge ahead with this offering on Friday! As portions were set to take place inside our community room anyway (masks required) and we are going to explore some potential options that may still give people to chance to gaze out the telescope outside.
If you have questions or require accommodations to participate, please reach out to Meg Malone at meg@carpentercarse.org
