"Me and White Supremacy" Book Group
Join us for a series of virtual meetings around Layla F. Saad's book Me and White Supremacy: Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor.
An introductory session will be held Wednesday, March 10 at 7 pm; then, as participants work through the book's 28-day structure and accompanying reflective journaling prompts, this group will check in on the following four Wednesday evenings:
March 17
March 24
March 31
April 7
The library has multiple copies of the book available, so please reach out to programming librarian Meg Malone at meg@carpentercarse.org to reserve one, obtain the Zoom link to participate and/or to request a complimentary notebook to dedicate to the journaling prompts that Saad’s book poses.
As Saad suggests in the book’s appendix, we plan for this group to make use of the “The Circle Way” model for conversations. An overview of The Circle Way practice will be included as part of that introductory session, and there are also overviews of the guidelines available that may be useful to reflect on prior to the start.*
The library does subscribe to a live caption service for Zoom meetings, but if you have other requests related to accessibility or necessary accommodations to participate, please reach out to Meg Malone (meg@carpentercarse.org).
